Although it is daunting to sort through the many options when it comes to the Caribbean or anywhere for that matter, it is always important to do your research. A recent vacation booked through the popular travel website, CheapCaribbean.com, turned out to be a good deal, with certain caveats.
The vacation searched for were Punta Cana resorts with good reviews that are for Adults Only. The resort itself was beautiful. Right on the beach with a curvacious pool that spanned the length of the pool. However, a few deals were left out that would have been nice to know.
Although the resort is technically located in Punta Cana, nowhere on the Cheap Caribbean website does it state that it is a near one hour cab ride at a whopping 70 USD ONE WAY. Although labeled “All-Inclusive” alcoholic drinks were not included with dinner. As Hurricane Isaac approached the island of Hispanola, where the Dominican Republican is located, there was no communication from CheapCaribbean.com if our flight would be cancelled or not. A call placed to their offices left us on hold for inordinate amounts of time, forcing us to hang up without resolution to our question.

In the end, it was the Tripadivsor reviews combined with the price and resort details that sealed the deal for booking the trip. Bottom line: CheapCaribbean.com can be a good source for booking travel, but do your homework ahead of time and research the resort on other review sites. Make sure you know transportation costs and read the fine print. Just because the pictures make it look like it is on the beach doesn’t mean it is.
